WebTechnetium-99m is derived from the decay of 99 Mo. Since 99 Mo is a decay product of 99m Tc, it is chemically separated and used to make various 99m Tc radiopharmaceuticals. This separation process occurs in what is known as a 99 Mo/ 99m Tc radio-nuclide generator system, as discussed in a previous section.
